Meet Virginia

Virginia from MadeByHand is hosting our sneak attack today at 3pm.

Virginia is one of our frequent hosts, a treasury guru, and a gal who crochets for charity.

I love to crochet blankets and I crochet for charities. I believe that handmade items convey good wishes and help in the healing process. It's amazing how crocheted items can last through generations. I have (and still use) crocheted blankets and throws that my grandmothers made and they are still comforting.

And her love for crocheting comes thru - in everything she makes - we use her crocheted dishcloths all the time.

Come join us today - our last Sneak Attack of 2014 for lots of fun, clues, excitement and so much more!!

Monday, December 8, 2014

Meet Lynn

Lynn from LynnHanousekDesigns is hosting our sneak attack today at 3pm. Lynn always finds the cutest new Etsy shops for us to surprise.

When Lynn first started hosting back in 2012, I asked her where she got her inspiration for her paintings.

I get my main inspiration from all the cats I know and have known. We've always had cats and many of our family members and friends have cats too, and they show up in my work. The white cat in my work is Dotty, who was my brother's cat and very special to me. The black cat in the daisy field is a tribute to my friend, Marguerite. The name Marguerite means daisy in French and Marguerite had a black cat. Sophia and Dubinski are the models for my brush paintings.

Of course I love all of Lynn's paintings, being a cat lover myself. Sometimes it's really difficult to figure which one is my favorite. Today, this is the one I love!

Have you picked your favorite?

Come join us in our sneak attack thread as we get ready for some fun!

Meet Christine

Christine from MCBDdesigns is hosting our sneak attack today at 3pm.

A little bit about Christine:

I have been creating "things" (poems, crafts, beaded jewelry, tote bags, stories, rugs, etc.) since I was a young child in the 1960s. And I enjoy challenging myself by learning new things.

I love the way Christine takes a variety of items (mixed media) and creates something just right! I love this card.

And you will too. There are adorable cards for everyone and jewelry to ooh and ahh over! Be sure to find your favorites in Christine's shop.

Come join us in our Sneak Attack thread today - to see who is there, and what kind of clues Christine will give us to help us 'guess' her pick of new shops today.

Meet Lynn

Lynn from LynnHanousekDesigns is hosting our sneak attack today at 3pm. Lynn loves to host sneak attacks, though she doesn't get the chance very often.

I asked Lynn back in 2012 what prompted her to join the team. She said:

This past May (2012) I was featured in a Sneak Attack treasury. I checked out "The Handmade Movement" website, liked what I found and decided to join. Helping and encouraging others fits into my basic life style values and I have found this team to be genuinely warm and supportive, not only to new shop owners, but to one another.

I can tell you, that every one of our members feels the same way!!

A gal after my own heart  - Lynn loves cats and paints the cutest pictures of them. Like this one:

In addition to loving to paint, part of the proceeds of each purchase from her shop goes to support animal charities. Be sure to check out all the delightful paintings in Lynn's shop!

And come join us in our sneak attack thread today - lots of fun and clues to help you guess who the 'victims' will be.

EliSe from xEsFunThings is hosting our sneak attack today at 3pm. A veteran hostess, EliSe enjoys finding new shops to surprise.

Did you know that EliSe's shop was attacked in December of 2012? And she hosted her first sneak attack the very next month! You don't have to host quite that fast, but it's so easy and there are lots of 'veteran' hostesses who would love to co-host with you! Join in and sign up!

I love browsing EliSe's shop - she always has new creations. I found this seed bead lariat. I love the touches that EliSe adds, the little charms that give this lariat some pizzazz!

Check out all the different lovelies that are in EliSe's shop. Something for everyone!

And join us in our sneak attack thread - come have fun and try to guess who the victims will be.

Meet Theresa

Theresa from KraftyGrannysHome is hosting our sneak attack today at 2pm.

Did you know that Theresa's shop was attacked in November 2011 by Maria. Thanks Maria!!

When I asked Theresa why she joined our team she says:

When I got Sneaked it just thrilled me so much, after joining the Handmade Movement group it was great sneaking and trying to figure out what shops it might be (like a game) and I love games. These are just the best group of people I feel like I've known them my entire life.

Theresa is a wonderful hostess, always finding really cute new shops to surprise. And I love browsing through Theresa's shop to see what new creation she has.

Found this adorable felt envelope that can be used for little gifts or a gift card.

I have several grandchildren who would love to have this - as I'm sure you do too! Be sure to order early.

And come join us in our Sneak Attack thread - can you guess who Theresa's 'victims' will be?

Meet Andrea

Andrea from CunninglyCrafted is hosting our sneak attack today at 12 noon.

Did you know? Andrea was a 'victim' back in December of 2011. And in August of 2012, she was a host for the first time!

I asked her what prompted her to join our team.

Since running is the way I relax,  when I saw "Sneaker" I was thinking shoes...haha. But, I was prompted to be a sneaker after my shop was a victim! Best night of my life. =) My husband had to listen to what was going on about it for days. =)

Andrea started her shop with cards being her focus. But being a teacher in her church Sunday school made her realize that finding Bulletin Board letters in the right size and color was very difficult. So started a new creation!

Now you can order the right color and size for all of your bulletin board needs.

Come join us in our Sneak Attack thread, so much fun, clues and new Etsy shops to be revealed at noon.

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past November 5, 2014

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Dottie, one half of DarlinBabe. Dottie and Abby are a mother daughter team that create unique one of a kind handmade jewelry. I personally love the rings, this one is my favorite.

When I asked how the Sneak Attack affected their shop, here's what Dottie shared;

How did the sneak attack affect your shop?
There was a marked increase in sales! I was a brand-new shop at the time, and was delighted to finally see the sales roll in. And grateful.

What was your reaction to the sneak attack?
Ha! Surprise. Like now.

Are you selling on other venues?
No. I don't. I do, however, for my other shop: Threadmill. Threadmill sells crochet patterns only on Craftsy.

Comments you would like us to pass on to the team?
Thanks so much everyone. I appreciate your kindness and keeping me in mind. I really appreciate the extremely welcome "bump" the first sneak attack gave my shop.

This is wonderful, I'm happy to see your shops succeeding. DarlinBabe received 5 sale from the Sneak Attack, today they have over 100 sales. I wish you continued success.

This will be our last Blast from the Sneak Attack Past post until after the New Year. The date is to be announced. Hope everyone enjoys the Holidays with their families, see you next year!!!

Amanda :)

Hi from Susanne and the Handmade Movement Team. This is the last post from me this year and I want to thank you all, who have read and visited the shops and wish you all a wonderful holidays and a great new year.

"Buy Cranky Crow greeting cards here through our Etsy Store and help raise much-needed funds for animal welfare and habitat protection. We partner with groups that rescue animals of all types or help protect wild places. For every card purchased here, we will donate one dollar. Thanks for helping us support some fantastic causes!"

This is what CrankyCrowStudios is about. The Handmade Movement was sneak attacking the shop with the great cause 11/21/2011 and I had the pleasure to go back and chat with Adrian, and hear how their shop is doing now.

Here are what Adrian told me:

It was really great to have the attack. We haven't had much business since though. One reason is that cards are a strange product to sell online. We are working on a new line of kids art though, and are aiming for a May 1st launch. Busy times! We don't sell on any other sites, other than the occasional print through Fine Art America. Thanks very much for everything and I think what you do is awesome!

Cheers

Adrian

I hope you´ll go back and visit  CrankyCrowStudios and show them some more love, unfortunately animal still needs protection.

Theresa from KraftyGrannysHome is hosting our sneak attack today at 2pm. A frequent sponsor - Theresa has a knack for finding very creative, very new Etsy shops that we want to introduce to you.

Do you know how Theresa came up with the name of her shop? The name was tough I knew I like being crafty, so I went with a "K" instead of the "C" - Granny just because that is want I am, and Home because that is where the Heart is.

And crafty is what Theresa is. She has so many lovely items in her shop - this is one of my favorites. It will probably be yours too! I just know you have tons of t-shirts that you would love to see in your very own quilt.

Be sure to browse through Theresa's shop. With so much to choose from, it will be difficult to select just one.

And come join us in our Sneak Attack thread - see if you can guess who Theresa's victims will be from her clues.

Meet Kelly

Kelly from juBEADlation is hosting our sneak attack today at 2pm. A long time member and frequent sponsor, Kelly can always be counted on to find the cutest new Etsy shops to surprise!

I always wonder how our members come up with the name for their shops. Kelly says it perfectly:

juBEADlation comes from jubilation (the feeling I get while making jewelry) and bead (my primary medium).

And you can tell that Kelly loves what she creates! In browsing her shop this morning, I discovered a brand new item! Wine charms - and who can't use a set of two of these.

From wine charms, to jewelry, to ornaments - you will definitely find just the right gift for someone on your list. (as of today, there are only 62 days left until Christmas).

Come join us in our sneak attack thread - friends, clues, shops - you will have lots of fun.

Corrie's shop was Sneak Attacked on May 7th of this year.
EliSe's shop was Sneak Attacked on Dec 10th of 2012.
What a great combination!!

I took a peek at Corrie's shop this morning - she has wonderful items for the girls in your life - but what about your guy? Let's not forget about him... creative bow ties!

And EliSe's shop always has new creations ... something for Christmas as well.

Meet Lynn

Lynn from LynnHanousekDesigns, is hosting our sneak attack today at 3pm.  A cat lover from way back, Lynn is always there to help, offer advice and join in the fun at past attacks. Today, Lynn will be creating her own fun by supplying clues to help our members figure out who her 'victims' will be.

When Lynn first hosted an attack, I asked her why she joined our team.

And now, Lynn is helping again, by having a fundraiser in her Etsy shop for Courageous Cats - an animal rescue program on Long Island, NY.

Here is one of Lynn's paintings for her fundraiser and I was lucky enough to get it and help support her cause.

Keep checking Lynn's shop - her fundraiser goes on all month - and you might be able to help too.

Be sure to join us in our sneak attack thread today - check out the clues and have lots of fun!

Thursday, October 2, 2014

Sign up to be a hostess!

Our sneak attacks average 2 a week - and they are so much fun. Choosing new shops to introduce, viewing lots of creative items, sharing hearts and even a sale or two.

We couldn't do it without our hostesses. They pick the shops for their sneak attack, come up with a list of clues to tempt our members when they want to create treasuries, and generally keep the thread going throughout the day.

If you have never been a hostess of a sneak attack - don't let that stop you. We have a number of long time members, who host frequently, and they can give you lots of tips to make your hosting experience fun and rewarding. They will co-host with you if you want.

We even have a supply of possible new shops you can choose from - from the snoopy member. Shops are added to Snoopy from treasuries that have been created by members during the day of a sneak attack. And other times, someone will convo snoopy and suggest a shop or two. So most of the time, you really don't have to search on your own.

And best of all, it's very rewarding to have the warm feeling that you are helping someone else get a good start.

Come on over to our sneak attack thread for today, meet the members, get a feel for what's going on, and plunge right in - we want your hosting experience to be one to remember - and you will want to do it often!

Blast from the Sneak Attacks Past September 26, 2014

Hi there, hope you all have a nice day, I have spent my day visiting a wonderful shop we sneak attacked on 9/12/2011, the day after the 10 years memory of the attack on World Trade Center, so I think we all were emotional.

Fortunately, Genevieve from SnowDayArtist ended up having a great day. Here is what she says:

I received many views from the Sneak Attack. Once I understood what was happening... it was great! But at first it actually scared me! - I think because it came the day after the big 911 anniversary.... I don't know something about that word 'attack' freaked me out... It's kind of embarrassing now that I think about it! But I was really confused at first. Maybe if it had said 'Love Attack' I would have understood right away? Again, I think the proximity to 911 and the word attack confused me.

Recently I split apart my 2 product lines: Mittens and Art Prints, and opened a second Etsy shop for my Art. My Art Print shop is GenevieveKeller.

I felt that the 2 product lines were too different and confusing to buyers - not professional. I would love to be sneak attacked at my new shop!

Technically I haven't had any sales at the new shop - though I did sell these prints in my SnowDayArtist shop previously. I know it will take a while to be found under my new shop... but it makes professional sense to have it this way.

Thank you for any and all exposure!

This was the Words from this Blast, wish you a happy time until we'll meet again
Susanne

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoy the newest Blast from the Sneak Attacks Past. I had the pleasure of visiting Mary Ann from OvationStudio. Mary Ann creates lovely buntings, coin purses, keychains, lanyards, and much more. Her shop was Sneak Attacked November 28th of 2011, at the time her shop had only 12 sales, today she has over 3,000 sales! Way to go Mary Ann!

I asked Mary Ann what she thought about the Sneak Attack, here's what she shared;

As a new shop with few sales, I was thrilled to be chosen for your Sneak Attack in 2011. It was the best thing to ever happen to my shop. It gave me the exposure I would never have had otherwise.

I'm convinced, it was the Handmade Movement Attack that launched my shop towards many successful sales. It's been a few years now, and I've added more items and am very happy with the results. I only sell on Etsy - it keeps me busy enough!

Thanks again to the Handmade Movement and for their support of new shops on Etsy.

How wonderful! I'm so happy to hear that! I picked a few of my favorite Fall items from OvationStudio to feature. You need to stop by and pick a few favorites of your own, Mary Ann's shop has so many gorgeous items. Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by.
Until next time,
Amanda

When I asked Christine what prompted her to join our team, she said:

I joined this team in particular because I like to do nice things for other people. I know that sounds dorky but it is true.

It's certainly not dorky - as that is what the team is all about and all of our members feel the very same way - so glad you joined Christine!

I am always thinking of cute things to get for my granddaughters - and I found just the creation in Christine's shop. These cuffs would be perfect and they are knitted, so soft to the touch. My problem is deciding who gets which style :D

When Charlie first joined our team, I asked her what gave her inspiration.

General inspiration for my artwork can come from the smallest things, since I was a little girl the simplest things made me happy like the wind in fall whipping up the leafs in circles, I used to say was fairies riding on them and having races, as you do at 7 years old!

What a vision!!

And you can see how Charlie's visions work for her. She makes the cutest hair clips!!

Check out the other adorable goodies in Charlie's shop!!

And come join us in the sneak attack thread today - to see who her 'victims' will be. (there are 6 of them!!)

Blast from the Sneak Attacks Past September 3, 2014

On 10/6/2011 we were sneak attacking The Amber Dragon Fly with love from the Handmade Movement Team.

The Amber Dragonfly is the home for vintage collectibles, handmade purses, tote bags, kindle and notebook covers, and I found this amaizing original and signed Robert Held art glass vase.

I asked Carol the following questions when I visited her:

How did the sneak attack affect your shop?
What was your reaction to the sneak attack?
Are you selling on other venues?
Comments you would like us to pass on to the team?

and here are what she told me:

The sneak attack was great. I felt like the Etsy community was reaching out.
My reaction? I loved it.
The only other places I sell is Amazon for a few books (newer) and occationally Ebay for something not suited for Etsy. Basically I prefer Etsy.
Comments? KEEP IT UP. After all, we all do feel totally alone out there and a surprise sneak attack makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I wish Carol good luck and I´m so happy to hear what a differens the sneak attack does.
Bye, bye for now, see you in another sneaked shop.
Susanne

_________________________________________________________________________________

Today we visit our very own crafty granny Theresa from KraftyGrannysHome. Theresa was Sneak Attack by the Handmade Movement on November 3, 2011 and has been an active team member since. She creates lovely crochet; blanks, hats, and baby booties. She also makes gorgeous quilts, ornaments, seasonal decorations, and so much more. Theresa has something for everyone!

These Halloween coasters are super cute! When I asked Theresa how the Sneak Attack effected her shop, this is what she shared;

The sneak attack effected me in so many ways, I was jumping for joy at having my very first sale and wasn't sure what was going on. I read up on what Handmade Movement Team was all about and knew right then that that was where I belonged. I was overjoyed that someone would buy something that I made.

I do not sale on any other venues and don't think I ever will.

This team is my extended family and I love each and everyone of the members. I pray for those who need the prayers in their life and smile with joy at the happiness in their lives, My husband knows everyone also, just by my talking about this team and he know how important everyone is to me.

And we love you too Theresa! The Handmade Movement team wouldn't be the same without you in it! KraftyGrannysHome has over 700 sales today, what a milestone! Keep up the good work and we wish you much more success with your great shop. Stop by and pick up a few handmade items from Theresa, you won't be disappointed. :)

Until next time,
Amanda

SNEAK ATTACK SHOPS 8/18/2014

Theresa of KraftyGrannysHome made this lovely treasury of our latest "Victims" and our hostess Susanne of SussesSpindehjrne

https://www.etsy.com/treasury/MTcxNjkxOTN8MjcyNDA5OTk0MQ/sneak-attack-shops-81814

Meet Susanne

Susanne from SussesSpindehjrne, is hosting our sneak attack today at 3pm. A frequent sponsor, a yarn diva and one of our international members, Susanne has a knack for finding the neatest new Etsy shops for us to surprise.

I mentioned that Susanne is a yarn diva. She is!! She spins her own yarn, she hand dyes it, she has even been known to use pet hair for spinning.

When I first asked Susanne back in 2012 if she had any pets - she said:

I have a 12 year old dog named Gustav. He is a Bernese Mountain dog and has a great undercoat, which is great for spinning.

I'm not sure if she still has her dog - but see - she used his undercoat hair for spinning yarn!

Did I tell you that Susanne also hand dyes roving - which can be used to spin yarn. This has got to be my favorite. And if you don't spin yarn - Susanne has a custom listing to spin it for you!!

Roving, yarn, handmade items - you will find something for everyone in Susanne's shop.

And come join us in our sneak attack thread - see if you can guess who Susanne's victims will be by the clues she is providing.
