Blast from the Sneak Attack Past July 31, 2013

On March 4, 2009 Dana from BeadDameDesigns was Sneak Attack with love from the Handmade Movement team. Dana creations gorgeous handmade jewelry. Everything from necklaces, to rings, to bracelets. See for yourself, she has something for everyone!

I recently had the pleasure of asking Dana how the Sneak Attack affected her, here's what she shared;

"The sneak attack on my shop was (obviously) completely unexpected! I was so thrilled to see all of the orders come in, since my shop had only been open for about 2 months at that time. It was a bit like being thrown in the deep end of the pool and learning to swim as far as how to process and ship all of the orders, but definitely a welcome learning experience! It was also a jump start to my shop, and being able to have positive feedback from my customers has led to additional sales. Etsy is the only place online that I am currently selling my jewelry. I also sell my jewelry at a local farmers market every Wednesday, and I am signed up to do several craft/art fairs on the weekends throughout the summer and fall. I would just like to say thank you to whoever came up with the idea for doing the sneak attacks, and to everyone who has participated in them. It was such a wonderful surprise to experience, and one that will not be forgotten!"

Dana's shop received 19 sales from the Sneak Attack, today she has over 120 sales. It's so wonderful to hear how these shops are doing. Please stop by BeadDameDesigns and pick a few favorites of your own.

Until next time,

This week I got the pleasure of visiting the shop VTGroundhog, a pretty shop featuring unique floral magnets and notecards.
VT Groundhog was attacked on March 2, 2009, started with 0 sales and ended up with an impressive 22 sales from the Sneak Attack!

I sent Krista, the shop’s owner, a convo and this is what she had to say:

Well, I must say my initial reaction was surprise (and some trepidation until I read the entire message and realized "sneak attack" is a good thing). The sneak attack allowed me, at the time a brand new etsy user, to make some sales. I'm not currently selling on any other online venues.
 Thanks for the followup,

I just loved browsing through this shop and found this to one be my personal favorite!
Take a look around and find your own favorites and maybe find something you just have to have.

Until next time (August 14)….Kelly

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past July 17, 2013

This week I got the pleasure of visiting the shop Fritos314, a lovely little shop that sells slumped bottles, stained glass, and mosaics.  The Sneak Attack occurred on 04/10/09 and received 3 sales.

This is what Linda, the shop’s owner, had to say about the attack:
I was very excited to be sneak attacked! I didn't even know that was something that was done on Etsy.
It gave me some extra exposure, which I really appreciate!

I currently just sell on Etsy, and to my co-workers. They haven't figured out yet to run when they see me coming into work with something new I've made!  I have them under my spell! Ha!
Wish I had more time to create for my shop on Etsy. Unfortunately, like a lot of other people, I have to work full time, just 'cause for some silly reason I think I need to eat and have a roof over my head!

The pieces I make are one of a kind, and like my idol, artist Laurel Skye says, you need to "procrastinate and percolate a project."  And boy, do I do that! I try to put my heart and a piece of myself into anything I make, or I can't be happy with it. I feel like if Linda ain’t happy, ain’t no one going to buy it and be happy!

I think Etsy is one of the best things ever!  I wish I had discovered it sooner!

You can sneak attack me anytime!!
Many thanks to the Handmade Movement Team!!!

I just love her attitude on how she puts her heart into each piece she makes.  I believe that’s what sets handmade items apart from something you would buy in a store.  All of her pieces truly reflect that, like this one:
Until next time…Kelly

On February 27, 2009 Tamika from PinkCakeandPaper was attack with love from the Handmade Movement team! Her adorable shop features invitations, announcements, and gallery prints. Like this super cute one!

I had the pleasure of asking Tamika how about the attack affected her shop, here's what she shared;

How did the sneak attack affect your shop?
After being sneak attacked other customers began to buy my items. People do not normally buy from you unless they see you have sales and feedback. I only had about maybe 2 sales, but after being sneak attacked by the lovely group members, they helped to increase my sales and they added their feedback. This inclined other customers see that I am a good shop to buy from.

What was your reaction to the sneak attack?
I was up real late at night trying to fix my images, make it look better, and trying to think of ways to increase my sales. Honestly I was ready to give up that night with etsy. All of a sudden a bunch of sales started pouring in from no where. My eyes got way big, I started thinking something was wrong with my shop. Once I realized what happened i was so so happy. Then I started thinking OMG I have to fulfill all these orders! LOL! Anywho, I DECIDED NOT TO QUIT ON ETSY THAT NIGHT:-)

Are you selling on other venues?
I take orders from my main website as well, PinkCupcakesANDPaper.com

Comments you would like us to pass on to the team?
You guys are awesome! You motivated me to continue with my business and you've helped make it what it is today! I will be forever grateful for you!

Even though I wasn't apart of the team when Tamika's shop was Sneak Attacked, this makes me feel great! Her shop received 9 sales from the attack and today she has over 100 sales. Stop by and pick a few favorites!

See you next week,

Meet Barbara

Barbara from byvala is sponsoring our sneak attack today at 3pm.

An international member, Barbara loves to find deserving new Etsy shops for us to surprise.

I always like to find out where our members got their crafting start.

Says Barbara:

I come from a family of crafters, my parents used to have a tannery (leather tannery, NOT the place where you get a fake tan). My dad was the 5th generation. When my grandparents runned the tannery, my grandma started a leather manufacturing studio. My parents also continued that. They made leather bags, motorbags for special editions Harley Davidsons, gymnastic grips, leather belts and some industrial leather. My mom did all the bookkeeping, my dad did the designing and making of the products. He taught me to sew on industrial sewing machines when I was 12. My mom and grandma from my dad's side are real crafters, embroidery, knitting and crocheting I learned from them.

Barbara is always making new things - when I was browsing her shop this morning - I found these adorable phone sleeves, each one with a lovely fabric pattern, to suit your personality. I love this one with the little bird on it. The phone sleeve is made with cotton fabric and a fleece lining to protect your phone screen.

From phone sleeves, to tote bags and more - you will enjoy your shopping experience in Barbara's shop.

And come join us in our Sneak Attack thread as we find out what fun clues Barbara has for us today!

Meet Susanne

Susanne, from sussesspindehjrne is sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 3pm.

When Susanne first started sponsoring our sneak attacks - over a year ago, I asked her what prompted her to join our team.

I am fascinated by the idea of helping each other and the ability to help others get their shop to grow.

Susanne is one of our fiber gurus - there are lots of members who crochet and knit with her yarn. And she always has such wonderful yarn to choose from.

I always have a hard time deciding which of her colors I like the best.  Tho if I had to choose - I'd say this is my favorite!

Take a look at all the fiber that Susanne has - you too might decide to take up crocheting or knitting.
And come join us in our Sneak Attack thread as we get ready to 'see' who Susanne has chosen as her 'victims'.

Blast from the Sneak Attack Past July 10th, 2013

This week I visited Kara Mia Sofia who was Sneak Attacked on January 21, 2009.   Joanne, the shop owner, started with 3 sales and received 37 sales from the Sneak Attack.  Kara Mia Sofia features lovely clutch purses for bridesmaids or as a gift for any of the ladies in your life.

This is what Joanne had to say about the Sneak Attack:

-Home did the sneak attack affect my shop?
After the attack it seemed I started to sell continuously it was really terrific and started me on the road to a successful business actually w/ many repeat clients.

-As far as my reaction to the sneak attack.....it certainly caught me off guard. I had just opened my shop a week before the attack in 2009 and I was in shock when I opened to view my shop that day. The orders that came through were incredible and I didn't even know where to begin. I have to be very grateful for being attacked and hopefully others have had the same experience.
-Not selling anywhere else presently....couldn't keep up the volume as of yet. It's been in the back of my mind though...

-As far as comments to the team...not really but thankful and grateful that I've been able to be a successful business owner with ease due to ETSY. When I started it seemed that not many people had heard of ETSY but as of today it's well known and very popular and that I'm sure has helped w/ my sales etc.
I took a look around the shop and found such beautiful fabrics used.  This one is by far my favorite:

Take some time to browse this wonderful shop and pick out your own favorites.
See you next week…Kelly

Today I had the pleasure of visiting Sandra from sandrandan, her shop was attacked with love from our team on January 16, 2009. Sandra received 16 sales from the Sneak Attack, today her shop has over 4000 sales! Check out the gorgeous jewelry Sandra creates!

Sandra was happy to share how the Sneak Attack affected her shop;

"The sneak attack happened 10 days after I opened my shop, and they were the very first sales that I made. They really gave me the incentive that I needed to keep going and to work on improving my products and my shop. I'm currently just a few sales away from hitting the 4,000 sales mark.I was at work at my day job when I saw all of the sale pour in, and I was absolutely ecstatic! Honestly, I think that I did very little useful work the rest of the day because I was so beside myself. I'm working on my own shop website right now, although I still plan to stay with Etsy for a long, long time. I also sell in two brick and mortar (b&m) stores and I do partner auctions (where I am the only seller) on Tophatter. Besides that I sell wholesale to a handful of individual shops, both online and b&m. Comments for the team: Thank you, thank you, thank you!! The sneak attack concept is such a wonderful way to encourage new shop owners. Keep up the great work! (I'd like to join too - just tell me how.)"

Check out Sandra's amazing creations for yourself and pick a few favorites! I personally love hearing from these past shops and I know the entire Handmade Movement team does as well.

See you next Wednesday,

Meet Theresa

Theresa from KraftyGrannysHome is sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 3pm.

A frequent sponsor, Theresa always finds wonderful new Etsy shops for us to surprise. And I'm sure today will be no exception.

A year and a half ago, when Theresa sponsored her first Sneak Attack, I asked her what gave her inspiration for all the creations in her shop.

I really don't know where my inspiration comes from - sometimes things just show up in my brain and I go with it, sometimes I see something and start figuring how I could change it and make it better.

Whatever her inspiration - when you look in Theresa's shop you will always find something new and exciting. Like this adorable Tooth Fairy Pillow.

Looking for more children's items, things for your home and more - just visit Theresa's shop. It's all there! And come join us in our Sneak Attack thread - to see who her 'victims' will be today.

Meet Barbara

Barbara from byvala is sponsoring our Sneak Attack today at 3pm.

One of our international members, Barbara tries to find her victims from all over the world - that way, other international members can see all the talent that the Etsy world has to offer!

I asked Barbara how she came up with her Etsy shop name:

My Etsy name is strategic. It is a trend to name your company starting with the word 'by' as it makes it more personal. I really like the name Vala, And Vala is a word that people search in Google, but what has very few hits. So I figured, a blind spot on Google, let's take it. Some strategy eh?

Barbara has been creating these adorable tote bags  - this listing for a surprise tote bag - with a fabric choice that Barbara will make - if you can't decide (like me) what fabric you would like.

Be sure to take a look at all the creations from Barabara's shop - there is something for everyone.

And come join us in our Sneak Attack thread as we get ready to surprise some unsuspecting new Etsy shops!
