Meet CarolBroadleyPottery and FallingCoconuts

Today, you are in for a treat! Our co-sponsors are a Mother and Daughter team! Actually, our sponsors are Etsy shop owners in their own right, they just happen to be related :D

Carol from Carol Broadley Pottery is Mom. Carol makes the most beautiful pottery. Says Carol Pottery started as a hobby only...then as many potters say, the clay grabs you, and you get hooked. I started taking year round classes, then got started with art fairs. It was all just an accident! I never intended on selling pottery, but it all has to go somewhere, so that was the next step...the only way to keep improving is to make a lot...of pottery.

This piece is a favorite of many of our sneaker friends as knitting and crocheting are hobbies (and obsessions)!

Jennifer from Falling Coconuts is one of Carol's daughters. How did Jennifer get started with the sneak attacks? I started Falling Coconuts (my Etsy shop) back in October of 2009 - just a short time after that I got "sneak attacked" and it was a GREAT surprise! I think having that experience gave me the opportunity to learn a lot more about Etsy and the wonderful groups it has to be a part of. And now I am getting the opportunity to pay it forward and brighten the day for someone else.

Jennifer makes a delightful assortment of cards and gift tags. Many of them are made from photographs. This one is my favorite!

Don't forget, Christmas is 'sneaking' up on us, and you will want to visit Carol's and Jennifer's shops for those great pottery items and cards for those on your gift list!

With this fun loving duo - you are sure to have a great time chatting with us today at our Sneak Attack thread. And be introduced to 3 new Etsy shops at 6pm Etsy time!

Meet Ritzy & Sandi

I'd like to introduce you to a brand new sponsor for our sneak attack! Meet Rita, from Ritzy's All Naturals

Nicknamed as Ritz or Ritzy as a child, (Rita's last name is actually a cracker brand ), Rita lives in Canada, and has lived in 35 towns! When I asked Rita what got her started with making lip balm, she said I started making lip balms several years ago when I started to react to commercial balms. I have a lip balm in every coat and purse I own!

Because I use lip balm myself all the time, and much prefer the natural ones, this one looks perfect (mmm, love honey).

Sandi from Sandi's Stash has been a sponsor before. Having started her shop as a way to sell her fabric stash, Sandi also has needlework and quilting books, macrame rings, and items that jewelry makers can use in their business.

I have so much fabric left over from projects, that I decided to fill sandwich bags and sell it in grab bag style. I ran across another shop that was doing that, but actually selling it as a PIF (pay it forward) for just the cost of listing an item, and then shipping. I thought - what a wonderful way to help others!

Rather than stuff a variety of fabric from different categories into one bag, Sandi has separated them out into project ideas, such as hearts, patriotic, Christmas, etc. What a great deal!

Be sure to check out Rita's and Sandi's shops and then come chat with us, in our Sneak Attack thread. You will have lots of fun, meet some great people, and be introduced to terrific new Etsy shops!

A little bit more about Stockannette:

There is a stitch in knitting called "stockinette." Since my name is Annette and I knit every day, Stockannette became my alias, or "tag name" (and then the name of my Etsy shop)!"

Meet Happy

May the Force Be With You!

Star Wars is the theme that Kirby, from Happy Hound Creative has picked for our sneak attack that happens at 5pm, Etsy time.

In light of recent sightings of bears in her area, I'm glad that Kirby has a place where she can be to watch them... I have a screened in porch on the back of my house that overlooks the "woods" - it's incredibly quiet and peaceful. It can be 100 degrees outside and my porch for some reason stays nice and cool. I could sit out there for hours. Hmmm maybe glassed in would be better :D

We've met Kirby before, and in looking through her shop for something related to 'bears', I couldn't find anything, however, in keeping with the theme she has chosen for today - how about Monsters!

Be sure to visit Kirby's shop and see what other delightful items she creates, and then come on over and chat with us in our Sneak Attack Thread.

Meet Beadsoul

Lisa from Beadsoul is sponsoring our Sneak Attack tonite at 5pm!

Affectionately called Bead, Lisa always introduces the neatest new Etsy shops, and today will be no exception.

Choosing a Halloween costume theme, many of our sneaker friends will come dressed in their scariest or funniest costumes. Can you guess who they are?

Everyone has a favorite medium that they work with. When I asked Lisa which was hers, she replied Favorite medium? That is kind of like asking what is your favorite food: one day I want ice cream or to use Resin, the next day I want cake or to do metal work...what about Chinese food-that could be wire wrapping? Lol!

I'm just beginning to learn about wire and how to work with it - I love these earrings, maybe Lisa will teach me how to create them :D

Be sure to see all the fantastic creations from Lisa's shop and then come chat with us in our Sneak Attack Thread - you will have a HOWLING good time!

The wonderful world of Sneak Attacks

Usually, I write about the sponsor for our sneak attack - today I'm the sponsor, and if you have been following this blog, you have already met me :D

When you are a new shop on Etsy, and don't know very many people in the community - you browse through the forums, find people on twitter that talk about Etsy, and just try to wrap your mind around all of the information available. It can be very confusing and overwhelming. Hint: being a veteran shop owner - there's still a lot of information that comes your way, that results in overload.

My sneaky friends and I try to help new shops whenever we can. Twice a week, we hold what we call Sneak Attacks - picking 2 or 3 new shops, to introduce them to the Etsy community and help them get a jump start in their business.

Many of our 'victims' have come back and joined the fun, and have become sponsors as well!

We don't have a team, but we are a bunch of fun people, who enjoy chatting and having fun. If you want to find out more, just come on over to our Sneak Attack thread today, and see what it's all about!

HELP! If You Are Scheduled to Donate Please Read This!

We have had a little problem with our email account and we need your help! Apparently over the weekend our Gmail account had a 'hiccup' causing several saved emails to be irretrievably deleted.  Of course, this included the emails we had received from those of you that were scheduled to donate to the Handmade Giveaway through the rest of this year. This leaves us with an open schedule and no way to contact those who were on it.

If you have received a confirmation email with a date for your donation to be posted as the Handmade Giveaway we need to hear from you! Please send an email to handmadegiveaway@gmail.com with 'I am scheduled' in the subject line and provide us with your information again. You will receive a confirmation email to let you know that you are rescheduled.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. As wonderful as modern technology is, it still has it's moments! Thank you for your understanding and support.

Habitmade Studios Wants to Spark your Holiday Spirit

Congratulations to Sandi of HandmadebySandi for winning this giveaway!

Nestled in The Adirondack Mountains, Habitmade Studios on Etsy offers handcrafted luxuries for the home and holidays. Shop owner Desiree has chosen this Handmade Giveaway to put you in the holiday spirit with a generous donation of three items to decorate your home. To check them out you will want to click here and then get registered to win. Harvest Kitty This is Harvest Kitty with Pumpkin Penny Rug. If you are not quite ready to enter the rush of the holiday hustle and bustle, you may want to notice that not everything in Habitmade Studios is geared toward Christmas. This is the perfect example. Desiree shares the Story of the Penny Rug. The Wool Penny Rug and Penny Rug Ornaments are as much a delight to design as to assemble, with the added satisfaction of being able to — at last — use all those luscious bits of leftover wool. Nothing wasted! Much like quilting, penny rug crafting can be a neighborly pursuit, or a lonesome activity on a cold winter night. Either way, the process is the same. Gently felt the wool, carefully cut the ‘penny’ circles and tabs and hearts and flowers, lay the design flat in front of you and begin the blanket stitch. We find it to be entirely meditative. The Penny Rug; a beautiful bit of Americana to share with friends, family, and trusted clients. So, After you register for the Handmade Giveaway, take a look through Habitmade Studios and see all the wonderful items Desiree has to offer. You are certain to feel warmed by the charm you will find there.
